Notes

Made in England.

℗ 1977 Virgin Records Ltd.

First UK pressing, often claimed to be 1,000 copies pressed, but that low figure is highly unlikely given both how many copies are out there and that 3 different sets of pressing plates were used in multiple configurations.

Originally planned to be released as promo only, but eventually released commercially earlier than expected due to the rushed-out French pressing being imported to UK.
Plain pink back cover, 11 tracks only.
No poster, no freebie 7" included.

Most copies are sent to to counterattack massive UK-imports from Barclay Records. They are also sold in the UK, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Italy and the USA (as seen on the photos, record was imported to the US through JEM Records).

I have one of the first 1000. Mine was originally sold in a Dutch record store. The price of the record store (Boudisque) is still on the sleeve. V2086A1/V2086B1 on the run out. Very nice to know where the record was originally sold. This album is my holy grail

My older brother (deceased) was on a summer vagabond backpacking trip to England in 1977. While in London, while almost all the stores were closed a Virgin record shop was open so he and his buddy went to check things out. They were promoting the Sex Pistols album to he and his friend both bought a copy. My brother was not much of a punk music fan but knew I was and bought it for me. Don't know much about the early pressing stuff but my copy is V2086, blank back, A1/B1 runouts, no poster or 45 came with it. It has 11 tracks and the labels with the errors. Back then I used to record my albums to cassette to keep the album in good condition. Still have it and have only played it 10-15 times. Original inner sleeve with UK Patent numbers on it. Sound quality is very very good on this pressing compared to latter ones I purchased and played.

I had a “blank back” copy, purchased on day/ week of release in 1977.
          It *definitely* had 12 tracks.
As I sold it many years ago I have no idea of matrices etc - but surely there must be a (seperate?) listing for that one.
          Any pointers appreciated.
          Thanks.

If anyone can provide me the type of inner contained in their copy, it'd be much appreciated. Mine has a paper/poly inner. Would like to confirm if this is correct.

I’m such a hoarder, I’ve got six copies of this album, all differing from each other. Someone has quoted the first American pressing doesn’t sound that great compared to some of the U.K. pressings. They have got a good point but if you consider it’s not supposed to sound polished. Just my opinion! 😀🌞✌🏻

My copy has the a3 b1 matrix and both me and my mate picked up copies with the submission single from a local corner shop six months after the orignal album came out.
Could'nt believe our luck at the time.

I’m very lucky in the fact that I have a super early U.K. pressing, which is the third pressing. (Includes submission, but doesn’t state on rear cover, only on the disc)! Plus I’ve got a 2016 repressing by universal on a lovely yellow 180g disc. I hope to eventually find an original 1st U.K. pressing but they fetch silly money! So I’ll have to keep on hunting! 😀
