Taking advantage of the replacement cartridge on my turntable, I'm reviewing the albums of my beloved Beatles. This album sounds very good, excellent pressing, silent and flat, very clear and detailed voices and the bass sounds very present and punchy.
All the tracks are perfect, no skips or anything like that.
Excellent insert, as every album should come.
I would say buy it without hesitation if you have the opportunity to find this edition. -

What's not to like? A Beatles album recorded in 1965, when I was 18 years old, that millions were climbing over each other to buy. I don't think The Beatles, and their producers, were focused all that much on the "oddiophile" when it was being made. They just wanted to sell copy. Good for them. Good for all of us as well.
This remastered reissue sounds great! The cover sleeve and the art is great! The Optimal Media pressing is quiet, and the flat disc was clean and free of dust and paper residue when I pulled it from the poly lined inner sleeve.
I live up here in "The Great White North", so I paid $53.39 Cdn., all in, to Amazon.ca, and it was delivered with a no hassle 30 day replace or refund guarantee, in only 3 days.
I just listened to it. I think I'll listen to it again. If you want a great copy of this 20th century musical treasure, then this is the one to get. -
It sounds more than good enough, but Help! has always been a lowpoint in The Beatles' career both from a recording point of view as well as musical, in my opinion. That being said, compared to other 1965 releases, they still blow almost all of their contemporaries out of the water.
This mix well sures the original stereo in my opinion. It's much fuller and clearer. It's also brighter in a more lively way, albeit a bit claustrophobic and digital sounding, at least in comparison. I also prefer this to the mono which greatly exacerbates the already muddy sound, but either way, you're never going to find an audiophile version of this album... judging from the 2015 "1" remixes and the more recent red album remixes, this album does have the potential to sound a lot better, though.
Considering how cheap and easy it is to find, this isn't at all a bad option. It's probably your best. -
The first vinyl issue of George Martin's 1986 / 1987 mix. A much better mix compared to the original and sounding very good here on vinyl.

I’ve had two copies of this pressing. Both featured a very poor quality press on side one, with muffled sound and skipping. Side two was fine. Both have been returned.

Edited 3 years agoFolks, BEFORE You List Your Copy For Sale, Please Double Check it! (mainly pertains to USA sellers, BTW)
If it mentions Capitol Records & Hollywood, CA in small green print on the hype sticker, just above the bar code, then it's a USA pressing, pressed at Rainbo Records and should be listed as such.
However, If it mentions EMI Records Ltd, "Marketed and distributed by EMI. Printed In The EU. UK " after it, it's pressed at Optimal in and is a EU/UK pressing and should be listed as that version.
If it says made in Canada, then it's a recent GZ, USA/Canadian pressing, similar to the original 2012 Optimal/Rainbo run, but obviously different and should be listed under that entry. Always double check before listing your copy and save yourself a possible return, plus buyers the frustration/disappointment of receiving the wrong version, because it was listed incorrectly. Pressing plants matter! :)
In conclusion, It'll always say the country of origin right on the back of the album, if you look hard enough, again, either on the front hype sticker, a small white rectangular sticker on the rear cover, or it'll be printed directly on the shrinkwrap itself, so please list it accordingly. 🙏 -
