Notes
The original cover for this album initiated some controversy from conservative record stores and political action groups. They tried to pressure Warner Bros. Records into changing the artwork, but the band would not allow it. Instead, a compromise was met that allowed production of this version as well as the Amendment version, which contained an alternate cover for those who found this cover offensive (see images).
Initial pressings of this album came with a booklet titled "Novena" that contained the album's liner notes. The CD itself had a different labeling; a "J" and "A" were printed on alternate sides of the disc in addition to the band's entire name and the title. A later pressing had this same CD face, but the Novena book was no longer separate and was incorporated into the cover leaflet for the full liner notes. Still later pressings simply had the band's name and the title printed on the CD in the same exact font but larger than before. Inside the Novena / liner notes, there is a third essay titled "To the Mosquitoes".
(At least) some of these came in a longbox.

I picked up the odd pink single LP of Ritual another mentioned. Very strange copy. Sleeve and printed inner sleeve are both very high quality and the sound is quite nice and dynamic for what is in all likelihood CD audio. I wonder where these came from! Matrix run out reads WX306 on Side One. Any info on this would be appreciated.

this is one of the most perfect albums for me. in general this is not my most favourite style of music...but this one is an exception. i listened to it a few hundred times and i am always amazed how good it it. they were also an incredible live band in the 90's. the songs, the performances, the production, every second is wonderful.
farell and navarro both have had totured souls back then....
it was a light in a dark period of my life, in which i only listened to this for some months, so it would be one of 10 albums i would take on a lonely island.
three days alone is worth buying it!
a true masterpiece, which sounds not dated today. -
Why is this listed as coming out in 1989? It came out in August 1990. I bought the white cover cassette right when it came out.
