I got this album out again today, it’s nice to play. Proper 12” singles all lavishly produced, with the over-sized labels on the actual records, Chris with his ‘dog’ hat. I prefer the B-sides of all the discs and it’s nice to play the songs individually like this, each extended version, taking its time . . . Lovely.
PSB design is often praised, the minimalism, bold colours, plain, READABLE type, great photography, wit and style. Impressive. The design, as packaging “does its job”.
This triple disc Introspective is one of my favourite PSB packages – the whole thing and in every detail. Gorgeous colours and then the special discs, with plain, bright, die-cut sleeves. It’s very well thought out, extravagant. At the time, it was an exciting album to buy. In a way, it is better than the Vinyl Factory creations (because the music is 100% perfect, apart from Always on My mind . . . ).
Yes, I did keep my Introspective obi. I have mixed feelings about them, they are soooooo awkward to keep, but it seems wrong to throw them away. -

Have the 12" Singles been sold separately aswell? I have a copy of the Domino Dancing one, that's why I am asking.

The sound is not excellent but it's definitely a lot better than the regular LP. One song per side at 45 rpm, what can go wrong? Well, the mastering. I have almost all the PSB singles and to be honest, most of them sounds better. Not by a lot though.

Since when did obi strips start being called belly bands? 'Obi' is the Japanese word for belt, specifically for a kimono, but still...

There would appear to be variants on the sleeve. Our copy with the (very tight) band still in place has different coloured stripes vertically down the spine edge: Yellow has a pale yellow stripe, 2.green-no variant, 3.pink has very pale pic stripe, 4. red has a small orange square {the band goes across the rest but it is possibly all red otherwise}, 5.Purple has a mid blue stripe and 6. Indigo has a dark turquoise/blue stripe
