Their Berlin album (Was mostly recorded in Berlin) They love it there, they own an apartment there.
Great album, really like it, some beautiful ballads. -
Great album, love it, but the vinyl is very hazy not punchy and thought it was my needle but no issues with other records, so x2 need to do better pressings

A fantastic album that wasn't over produced. That makes listening very pleasant, very creative album. Very good sound stage. Really good songs.

My copy plays great from start to finish, plenty of bass and sounds great for a digital transfer. Is it their best album, not hardly, but has several good songs making it worth picking up. Has subtle light ticks here and there just like most records. Give it an excellent vacuum wet cleaning with a detergent/distilled water mix that’s vinyl friendly and an equally good just distilled water vacuum rinse before playing. As with most new vinyl purchased nowadays, getting an excellent playing one is sometimes the luck of the draw.

I was preparing for the worst. My copy actually sounds pretty punchy with plenty of bass. The problem is the last track on each side. It sounds all weird and hazy. Pity.

Edited 3 years agoI have 2 of the last three Pet Shop Boys albums on LP (all X2 label). Electric is on the way. Super is subpar (if not terrible) but Hotspot, while printed gloriously, sounds like it was not mastered for vinyl. Dear X2 - WHY BOTHER? For your money go with the PARLOPHONE 2018 remasters. They're wonderful: crisp, clean, with improved sonic details. Oh, the world of vinyl. Lots of variability out there.

I finally picked this up on clearance. I’m a big fan of PSB and enjoyed Hot Spot on streaming but didn’t feel a rush to get the vinyl. I’m disappointed in the quality and agree with many of the other reviews; it sounds flat and hazy. I’m hoping it’s a coating or something that will wear off. I actually like the artwork and think the mat finish looks nice.

The quality of my brand new pressing was so bad, it was unlistenable. lucky for me the store gave me a refund. The digital version is flawless. Too bad, I won't risk buying another vinyl copy. The album is pretty good.

It was to be expected after reading the other reviews, but the sound quality of this pressing is very poor.

These ten new songs confirm for me the return of a better inspiration for the boys. First of all, and in contrast to many comments I've read below, I do really like the art packaging for this new album. This strangely reminds me of the cover for "Seventeen seconds" by The Cure, and gives the Pet Shop Boys this deeper dimension that it is still so often denied to them (particularly in ). After all, they were supposed to tour in the US with New Order before this covid time... As it has already been said, alas, this pressing (the first one : I've pre-ordered it in the UK for its release) is far from perfection. Overall I would say that the slow and emotional tracks are badlyserved in of sound. Bass frequencies fail to emerge and, as somebody here has already said, it could sometimes seem that a veil has been placed between the loudspeaker and your ear. That's a shame because those tracks are specially neat and successful. On the other hand, vintage sounding disco-pop tracks sound very well and one cannot hardly resist the will to dance when listening to it. At least, PSB appears to stay kings of roller coaster and effortlessly combine euphoric feelings with an undeniable sens of wit.
