My copy of this CD (made in Mexico, matrix IFPI 1024 IFPI LY93 57556886/19439822392RD1 21) only has three songs in true lossless audio quality: "Let's Shake Hands", "Jolene", and "Icky Thump". The other 23 songs are all sourced from low-quality MP3 source files. The mastering appears to be the same as the commonly-available album CDs (using the louder "secret" remasters of the first two albums from circa 2001), with a song occasionally lowered in volume to keep the levels consistent. I know that Jack is very dedicated to and involved with the quality of his vinyl releases, so I sincerely hope the LP edition does not use the same crummy MP3 sources. If you're looking for the songs on CD, I recommend buying the albums instead of this so you can get the highest possible quality. (I got all 6 albums for $5 each a few years ago, I'm sure you can find a similar deal without too much difficulty.)
Also, as somebody else questioned the length of the CD, I timed mine and it is 1 hour 21 minutes 43.64 seconds. (I've had some redbook CDs that cram up to an hour and 23 minutes so it's definitely possible.) I suspect some players may have trouble playing this disc. Also, this is standard redbook rather than an MP3 CD, so the poor-quality files do not have any bearing on the length/capacity of the CD – someone was just lazy or uneducated when they put it together. -
I'm really confused. Spotify's is 1 hr 21 minutes. Are some of the songs different edits than what Spotify has ed? I thought CD can only fit up to 79:59?
