I have the 1980 Japanese pressing. Should I buy this also? Is this better than the 1980?

Good Clarity, albeit Ultravox not being known for audiophile quality sound.
Nice to finally own the B side Waiting on vinyl apart from the Styrene 7” single. Great additions.

Edited 3 years agoI have almost no sibilance issue on 'ing Strangers' and 'Sleepwalk'. Maybe have more luck and stamper was fresher. Or better sharper stylus profile on my cartridge (Fritz Geyger S) and perfect calibration can treat sibilances better.
Nevertheless this issue has definitely less sibilaces than 1st. UK pressing!
I consider this issue has generally excellent mastering, if not the best ever done (have/had at least 10 different pressings to compare). Much closer feel to the 1st. pressing than latest 2021’s S. Willson mixes. Later has even less sibilaces and is more polished, But sometimes I miss the original album energy too.
As always. trade off. Need to keep both issues :) -
Edited 3 years agoIs the mastering the same as the original UK release? I don’t see any mention of it being remastered. I have the 2015 remaster and am curious what this one is based on.

Edited 4 years agoAnybody notice quite bad sibilance on 'ing Strangers', 'Sleepwalk' and 'All stood still'? My original 1980 LP has the same issues and I'm very disappointed that the problem apparently continues despite the remastering. My setup is fine.

? And why include the single version of All Stood Still instead of the extended (albeit sligthly so) 12" version?
