Even though Darren Price is probably most associated with Underworld, his solo album, UNDER THE FLIGHTPATH, shows personality of its own. "Airspace" drives forth with a nice melodic line, while "Lose No Time" trucks in the assertive breaks. "Things Change" slows down the breaks for a smoother cruise, and "Blueprints" pounds the floor. "Counterpoint" has industrial trace to its thump, and "Long Haul 747" has a nice drive to it. As enjoyable as the album is, however, none of the tracks really stands out, and the album as a whole thunders by without leaving too much of an impression. Still, one can still enjoy the light acid of "Phizz" or the soothing groove of "Over and Out."

It's strange that "Lose No Time" was selected to be the single to promote this album, as the song is not representative of the album, nor is it really very good. Most of Under The Flightpath is much better, being largely a collection of energetic, anthemic themes from one of the few UK producers to really understand and be able to reproduce the Detroit techno aesthetic, at a time when most techno of this sort was no longer being crafted by anyone outside of the Underground Resistance collective.

Edited 19 years agoUnfortunately, as good as this album still is, it is now very much a product of it's time. Having said that though, even with most of the tracks on here not having stood the test of time, it is still all quality techno music nonetheless.
Recommended for those who like their techno with a little more feeling (ie- the inclusion of music; not just beats and basslines).
