I'm getting a " has reached the monthly fair usage limit" error message. If I counted correctly I scrobbled 44 records. Is that too much? Is there anything I can due to by this message? Thanks for any tips.

Receiving the same error. Scrobbling did work earlier today.

Maybe it's a Discogs API error message directed at vinylscrobbler.com?

    Same error for me.

This would be my guess. Wonder if Discogs made a change on their end.

Hi everyone - apologies for this - this was a bug and is now resolved.

it's a new feature we implemented to combat some spam/abuse we were seeing from a handful of s, which was in turn causing us to be rate-limited by Last.fm and blocking some other s' scrobbles :(

I shipped it quickly on Sunday and obviously hadn't tested it well enough - sorry!

PS. thanks to djxfactor511 for alerting me on Twitter - i don't get notifications for these forum posts for some reason, will need to figure out why.

thanks all and happy scrobbling :)

I received this message today. It suggested I open a paid , but the paid for one pound said it would only let me scrobble ten albums per month and it said my month would go Oct 22nd to November 22nd. I value this service but I'd want to make sure this isn't an error and that I could scrobble an unlimited amount before I would sign up. I scrobble 5 or 6 albums a day through VS. Is that above a limit, it is about how much I have scribbled since discovering your awesome sight earlier this year.

yeah, i have the same issue as blair2100. 10/month seems like a weird limit for a paid subscription

  • Show this post
That's odd. I've scrobbled many more than 10 this month and have never reached a limit. I do not pay for anything.

iainmullan Just to clarify, going forward we can only Scrobble 3 albums a month for free; Otherwise it costs £3 monthly?

I'm just making sure because the subscription scheme came out of nowhere, the cost seems to have varied, and the number of allowed Scrobbles has varied. Is the way things are set now the way it'll be? I'm considering subscribing but want to make sure it's all settled first.

Edit: Agh, I see you mentioned above that you don't seem to get notifications of tags on here. Hopefully you'll see it. Otherwise I might try to reach out to your elsewhere.

I have been getting this message for over a week now despite scrobbling many, many albums before that. What do I do? I consider moving to another last.fm compatible scrobbler but would like to continue using vinylscrobbler.
"You've reached your monthly scrobble limit - keep scrobbling"

  • Show this post
i would even consider subscribing, but there is only one payment option which i don't have. was forced to switch to openscrobbler, which works very well.

Thanks! I have now moved to Opensrcobbler that works on Last.fm which is paramount to me. Universalscrobbler is also an option I consider as it also works on Last.fm.

    Thanks again!

Universalscrobbler requires a subscription to be used in a meaningful way. Otherwise you have a one album limit per day and you can't scrobble single tracks, etc.

I've reached out to Iain on a few different platforms and haven't gotten any response back. I've been unable to scrobble using the site for a few weeks either. I've started using the native album scrobbling feature on the Discogs app. Miss my stats on VinylScrobbler though... :(

Can you tell me how it works? I have managed to scrobble single tracks, but I haven't found a way to scrobble an entire album. It's probably super easy to do, but I just can't figure out how.

On the album page, click the 3 dots next to the search magnifying glass in the top right. Last.fm scrobble option should be towards the bottom of the dropdown menu there.

    Hi everyone!

For the last 6 months or so I've been working hard on some new features for Vinyl Scrobbler, some of which would only be available on a paid subscription.

So as part of that work we introduced different plans, and started rolling out the options, and certain limitations on the Free tier, to a portion of s - so not all s will be encountering limits or seeing paid options just yet!

To clarify the different messages people might be seeing:
    - " reached the monthly fair usage limit" - this is an anti-spam feature and not in any way related to subscriptions
    - "You've reached your monthly scrobble limit - keep scrobbling" - this means you have been put onto the "Free" tier and as such are limited to 3 albums per month. The plan gives you unlimited albums per month (subject to anti-spam fair usage mentioned above!)

We are extending the option of different plans gradually to all s, starting with most recently ed - which means if you've been a for a long time, you can still enjoy the "Classic" experience of no limits for a little longer ;) .... however I'm hoping to make a full official announcement of the Plan and all the great features some time in the next few weeks - stay tuned!!

Hope that helps - and thank you for all your continued - as an avid VS myself I'm really excited about all the new features in the pipeline, and hope you are too!

    Cheers
    Iain

It was fun while it lasted with Vinyl Scrobbler. I pay for Last FM, I am absolutely not paying extra to scrobble through VS.
A site which although seemed to be held together with spit and dreams the last 12 or so months, I forgave as it was handy as a repository for my collection
Off to begin scrobbling natively through Discogs it is

If I try to change my ‘free plan’ into a paid one, all I get is 500 server error messages.

imagine paying for scrobbling vinyl through the page that doesn't even have the basic function to pay because it's giving server error.
bye bye vinyl scrobbler, thanks for all the scrobbles.

Sorry about this! i've finally managed to figure out what the problem was and got it fixed - the payment page should be working now 👍
