See Marillion - B'Sides Themselves.

Some of these midline/midprice titles may be considered a "series" in the industry, as I mentioned at http://discogs.mejorespelis.org/forum/thread/693251 ... but whether we are going to really consider them to be a series on Discogs...it's up to us. IMHO it's not really a series in the sense that we intended Series fields to be used for. -

Similar to Nice Price, but in that instance we have reissues with new catalogue numbers, amended artwork etc.
A sticker?
No -

I always felt if the artwork actually carries the series (like printed on the cover, in the booklet like the added catalog pages of some Nice Price releases or on the CD) then it is a valid series release. But not based on a sticker. -

Sounds like a very generic sticker, possibly applied to remaindered stock. -

Mop66But not based on a sticker.
...and not all caps.
Yeah..I mentioned that to the submitter in the sub notes...that was a pretty bad move to do it like that.

As the offender, I agree with everybody and removed series from Marillion - B'Sides Themselves
This thread was unnecessary, as I mentioned on last edit. Sorry for the inconveniences. -

Did it on All-Caps because I saw this: CD-MID-PRICE SERIE
Just edited my label as Do Not Use: CD MID PRICE -

So it sounds like this is safe to say (as I just added to the CD-MID-PRICE SERIE profile):
Although mid-price product lines are sometimes considered a "series" in the industry, they are usually only considered a series on Discogs when denoted by special branding printed on the original packaging, such as was done on these releases.
I'm thinking about adding that to the Nice Price profile as well, but I can't be sure that the releases filed there aren't already including some that were chosen just because of their catalog number or a sticker. The profile images include a sticker.
[edit: added usually and changed incorrect unless to when] -

I own two releases with 'Nice Price' added to sub. Neither have any original artwork with the wording on, nor do I have the stickers (but I may have peeled them off with the price tag years ago!) -

I do own a release with NicePrice all over it's booklet (not a sticker), please see my scans here: ELO* - ELO's Greatest Hits Vol. Two (Interesting is that it lists a very big bunch of releases of the series in booklet)
Same with all The Who's Compact Price: The Who - The Who Sell Out -

So, Dave, how they are different then from the original releases? -

No idea Jens, series added very late in their respective histories

However they are my own contributions and I say Nice Price early in the history so they must have been just stickered ( as they're not there now ) Is there a specific version I should be comparing to? -

I don't know. Are there any similar releases that only differ by the Nice Price series? They are likely reissues anyways but if they are the same as another release only different by the Nice Price sticker i doubt they are unique releases by their own compared to any without the sticker.

Just checked and both are unique as no other CD has the same catalogue number, meaning that number does not appear (or is not recorded) as primary, secondary or otherwise on other releases. So they are unique, but whether the series is valid? Some came with booklets listing other bands/titles available in the reissue programme by CBS at the time, so I suppose despite the unexciting generic name the series should stay for all those listed in the booklet (?)
