Maybe I'm stupid but I cannot understand following.
Genesis - Abacab UK release has stamped TOWNHOUSE in deadwax with matrix numbers also stamped. As I understand cut was made by TOWNHOUSE in this case. OK. But...
US release has different cut with etched matrix numbers and also has stamped TOWNHOUSE !!
Irish pressing that I own pressed by Carlton has etched name of mastering/cutting engineer 'Gerry' that's not unusual with Carlton pressings but also has stamped TOWNHOUSE in deadwax (??). This cut also differs from UK one - it has narrower deadwax. And matrices are etched.
If cut made by 'Gerry' how did TOWNHOUSE end up here?
And what is this TOWNHOUSE doing on the american release?
What means TOWNHOUSE here? -

You can't move it; just copy and paste the wording into a new thread over on that forum.

So, Gerry is not a cutting engineer, he's credited with plating on his profile.
Simply put, lacquers were cut at Townhouse and plated by Gerry at Carlton to make the stampers used for pressing. Hope this helps. -

I'm agree Gerry was plating engineer. But if both UK and Carlton plants used the same lacquers for plating cuts in these releases must be identical. But they are different. So Carlton didn't use the same lacquer like UK plant. And I'm sure TOWNHOUSE didn't make different lacquers for UK and Ireland. This is absurd. So Carlton made their own lacquers. But then what is a TOWNHOUSE doing on dead wax?
