spinning.sunlight, starting a thread because I'm not sure you're getting notified of responses to your submissions.

Recently you added durations to a bunch of releases but you didn't follow RSG §12.6.4.

"If the durations are not listed on the release, they can be found and entered by timing the vinyl. The timings must be taken from the exact release - please do not transfer timings between releases. Please mention in the Submission Notes where the durations were derived from."

It doesn't seem like you've been following this guideline at all and I'm worried you added a bunch of durations that need to be reverted because they didn't come directly from that release. Bandcamp or other Internet sources aren't valid for vinyl releases.

I'd politely request that you revert your changes on these and familiarize yourself with the guidelines. When durations aren't printed you have to time the vinyl or get times from a digital rip of the exact release, and you must state the source.

I'd rather not see you get a bunch of negative votes for this if you weren't familiar with the guideline. You've already got responses on a few of your submissions from folks like myself, goncalobcunha69 and it's only been a day.

    Thank you!

Interesting. I have not encounter this previously. Seems like adding something that isn't a part of a release, should be left blank. Permitting undocumented interpretations, opens discrepancy. Typically that's what I've encountered "No track durations present on this release." Since it's permitted, hopefully it can be cleared up.

Right. Sometimes submitters mention in the Release Notes that no durations are printed on the release, which is ok.

But it is possible to add durations as long as you follow the guidelines. Personally, for vinyl, I don't enter durations unless they're printed on the release because I don't want to go to the trouble of timing the vinyl and I don't usually do digital rips of my records.

With CDs it's a little easier at least because you can just put it in a drive connected to your computer and get the times from a media player.

In any case we should state the source in the Submission Notes generally, but if the durations are not printed then providing a source is mandatory.

The day is young, and I've learned something new. Regards.

For now, I have reverted one of their edits. Let's see if it gets their attention.

Yeah, and I saw LolH because that one was obviously against guidelines.

It doesn't seem likely that any of these duration entries are valid though.

I've reverted his edit on Pink Floyd - Animals a couple of days ago, and left a comment on some other ones but without any answer. I think we should simply revert all his edits in a day or two.
