Interesting. Can we parse out the performers? -
Show this post
Assuming top of this list is Bob Ludwig? Thinking that your task may be a little more complex to get data most people would value, any thoughts on how to get further with this? -
Show this post
heh, I was totally wrong, this is fascinating, I have 9 releases mastered by Bob Ludwig, the highest numbered name here I don't have anything by is number 15 Rudy Van Gelder, in total I'm missing 5 from the top 50, ands theres quite a range of roles amongst them.
Sorry 2tec, I was wrong, I like this game! -

2tec
Here you go https://discogs.mejorespelis.org/search?sort=have%2Cdesc&type=artist
I think they meant parse out the performers, not just cut out the 'click the artist tab'.
"Artists" with a technical credit, or non-main performer credit wouldn't count in any meaningful "most collected artist" list. I don't think you can do it with discogs' interface. You'd need to play with the data dumps. -

I have 32 by Bob! I have the most by "Traditional" with 62, next is 55 from Brian Eno.
In the top 50 I've none by Rudy Van Gelder, Kevin Gray and Herbie Hancock. -

I think we'd see a drop from brian eno, I suspect more people have records he has 'enosyfied', but interestingly where do we draw the line with this sort of role?
Tough one... -

My eno entry shows 67, he stands more than double the next best in the top 50 -

Looked on page 2, Porky's in there, 52 so must surely be 2nd for me, wonder what else I'll find further down -
Show this post
For me, Porky is a disappointing 5. He needs to try harder.
Mark Stent I have 50! -

Suspect if I got around to adding my CDs some people would get much higher numbers, was suprised Duke Ellington showed 0, but got number of CDs of his -

Doing a "Most Wanted" search on Release produces interesting results.
https://discogs.mejorespelis.org/search/?sort=want%2Cdesc&type=release
I have to go a few pages in to get to the first "most wanted" that I have: Aphex Twin - Drukqs
and then a bit further down: LFO - LFO
Then nothing for pages and pages and pages. -
Show this post
Similar for me, oddly 1st is a repress of Mezzanine, then Drukqs, my LFO is black, so must be a lot lower... -

Amazing number of credits on real classics he has, how on earth is he zero for me? seems a little remiss of me -
Show this post
Maybe if you've got a bunch of stuff on CD he won't have been involved, obviously. Saying that, I'm talking rubbish, just because I think of him cutting two LPs at a time, but he was also recording the music in the first place!
A couple of things on page one of "most wanted" I've definitely owned, but they might have been permanently borrowed or deprecated when the CD cases broke. -

On a *very* speedy look through the releases credited, the artists & labels I recognise seem to suggest a fair whack of stuff is jazz, and I don't have much jazz. -

Top ten greatest jazz records of all time? (Available either on CD or - I can't be arsed with vinyl any more - at a good price).
I'm not a fan of trad jazz (I have some handed down from my dad and most of it is a bit naff). -

I once recommended this to someone and immediately got ignored for it:
Charles Tyler - Sixty Minute Man -

Top ten greatest jazz records of all time?
Ten excellent albums that are not Kind of Blue or A Love Supreme (because you probably already know of those):
Clifford Brown And Max Roach - Alone Together: The Best Of The Mercury Years
*Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder.
The list would probably be different if you asked me tomorrow. -
zbarbera edited 5 days ago
From the top 5: Ludwig - 210, Lennon-McCartney 287, Traditional 256, Dylan 182, Calbi 100. (108 RVG)
All the way to Nilesh Patel before I don't have any (but 2 in my wantlist) and then to Radiohead before I get to 0-0.
No idea what I have that has a Taylor Swift credit. And I knew 1 of the 2 Pharrell Williams credits was on Mandatory Fun but TIL that he's credited as a writer on Rumpshaker. -

I had to search and see. My Taylor Swift credit is also Weird Al - "Weird Al" Yankovic - Alpocalypse -
