it's been a not so fine day. Caught up on some stuff I'd purchased but yet listened to.
Dolo Coker - California Hard (This was nice -- worthy of repeat listens)
Monk - Live in New York Vol 1 & 2 on Thelonious Records -- do not waste your time tracking this down even if you are a completest, this will go into collection bin where it shall never be heard from again due to awful sound quality.
Dexter Gordon - Live at Keystone Vol 2 (not as good as Vol 1 or 3, kind of meanders a bit too much)
Must put something reliable on to compensate. -

A new one - Orlando Le Fleming & Romantic Funk
Funky and adventurous. Reminds me a bit of Herbie Hancock in the early to mid-70s.
Also - Eric Hargett Trio Featuring Joey Desco & Gerry Gibbs - Steppin' Up
A great organ trio cooking session. -

So... it's Monday again...
George Jenkins And His All Stars - Drum Stuff
Always three of them - guess that goes back to my Christian education. George Jenkins And His All Stars - Drum Stuff strongly recommended, Tristano too.
@ jojo1964 What about last week's Venusian Summer?
edit: listened to George Russel a second time, 'cept of some minor Ray Hall fauxpas this one gets at least four stars too. -

My weekend spins included:
Black Art Jazz Collective - The Side Door Jazz Club
The first two were very good with plenty of moments of experimentation. I especially enjoyed Dr. White's versions of One Love, House Of The Rising Sun, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I didn't much care for the Black Art Jazz Collective though, despite the excellent lineup. It just didn't feel like they gelled as a group. -

Bud Powell Trio* / Lucky Thompson Trio - Memorial Oscar Pettiford
Two nice titles by Lucky Thompson, but IMHO a very unpleasant appearance of the Bud Powell Trio
