Chicano Batman – Freedom Is Free

My copy sounds great. No noticeable surface noise, flat as a pancake, but I think it's missing the code (unless I'm missing something and it's not a card).

I really like these guys! They have got a groove like no other. Unique chemistry between the singers. They're on my always buy list. Like sunlight through a curtain on a summer morning, reminding you that it's still beautiful out there, so move! This pressing is, sadly, subpar and deserved so much better. Maybe a few of the earliest pressed copies are better, but I think the stampers were probably contaminated. Ticks and pops all over, and they worsen toward the end of both sides.

So the first few songs on each side sound great but the closer the needle gets to the center of the record the worse the pops and surface noise gets. I'm not sure how or why this is happening but it's weird as it's the only record I own that has this specific issue.

My record sounds fine. It's mastered a little quiet so that does raise the noise floor when you crank it up, but I have not experienced any loud pops/cracks. I do wet wash all records prior to spinning them even if they are brand new so I am sure that helps. Try a wet wash if you are having issues.

received two copies direct from the label and both had non-fill distortion on A-Side: A1, A3, A4 - plus, both sides had "way to much" surface noise for my liking. to add insult to injury both printed inner card stock sleeves were split. done with this shitty first pressing run.

Has anyone preordered this w/ the signed little poster? ??

This album is just amazing! but there is some pops and surface noise here and there on the record itself.
