Can wholeheartedly say this is one of the best sounding records in my collection. I bought it to replace a white label promo I had to sell and have zero regrets about letting the other one go.

Wow! I'm very happy with the sound coming from this! The pressing is perfectly flat and looks very cool! But the meat on the bone is there and then some! This thing is easily one of my favorites just after one listen. Dirt sounds just so good, like hearing this gem for the first time! Don't hesitate because if you're looking for a really amazing pressing of this album this one is it! Last of the sacred triangle left with us and what a way to hear him!

This compares very well to my 82 US pressing that has rocked my ass for over 40 years. Everything is right where it’s supposed to be and sounds really good. There is a touch of sibilance when Iggy hits his esses hard but it’s barely noticeable and is exactly the same on both of my pressings. An excellent reissue all the way around.

Sad to say at the time i write this, this is the only good reissue of this album since it released. The regular black EU repress and half black, half red Rhino reissues are both poor non filled noisy things (and warped in case of Red/Black version). This is the only good copy ive found. I also tried the 2010 Rhino pressed by the godawful Rainbo... nah ahh! Sad really as all sound good enough on the mastering front.
I hoped this would be my collector copy but alas its my go to player! -

I'll chime in and say I love the sound of this pressing. Drums are crisp and not getting any vocal distortion with my copy.

I don't have another pressing to compare this one to but, this pressing sounds pretty good. It has great separation in of the instruments. Bass, guitar and drums are all clear. There is some sibilance on the vocals but it's nowhere near overbearing and it's only really apparent on "Loose" and "T.V. Eye". But, like I said, it's barely noticeable. Another note, I don't think it's 180g. It feels fairly light. If that's important to you, I'd suggest getting the 2010 normal black vinyl by Rhino. Overall, if you don't want to drop big cash for a decent original, go for this one. It has my stamp of approval.

Edited 7 years agoLet me set the record straight here...this version sounds absolutely marvelous. Some sibilance yes, and the vocals do sound a tad bit compressed but it doesn't ruin the quality of the listening experience and by no means is overwhelming. It actually might have something to do with the fact this is a colored vinyl. If done right, color vinyl will not produce any sound anomalies but I've purchased enough color vinyl to conclude that they are more commonly susceptible to sibilance issues than black vinyl. I can't say for sure why this is, I just know I've experienced harsher sibilance on several color vinyl reissues. However, the sound on this thing is powerful as hell, almost too bass heavy but delivers a full, dynamic sound nonetheless. The drums are extremely lifelike and punchy AF. The guitar is cutting and the instruments are balanced well. Could the vocals be better? Probably but I don't have an original to compare it to. Regardless a very engaging and enjoyable experience. Pressed well, with no surface noise or any flaws whatsoever. For the price it's a hell of a deal.

I have an original US first pressing & a 1972 German pressing. Neither has any sibilance or any other issues. If you're hearing problems it's almost certainly the modern pressing that's causing it, not the original recording.

Edited 7 years agoI do hear some sibilance too on Side A but it's not too distracting for me and overall I think it sounds pretty good. If you listen to "Loose" on YouTube, I think there's sibilance on the original recording.
