Edited 4 months agoI bought this new in 2018. It was at a Guitar Center and as I was deciding, a sales clerk tried to sell me a replacement plan. Still shaking my head at that one.
I ran it through my Spin Clean and my copy plays without any noise or pops. I compared it to the CD/FLAC and this sounds better. It’s punchy and has better defined highs and mid-range. A bit more dynamic. I see the audio wizard Robert Ludwig listed for remastering. He is one of the best IMO.
This being pressed at Rainbo is unfortunate as they are hit and miss with quality control. If you are buying this second hand, there are good copies. I’d recommend asking the seller to do a listening test before buying. -
Wonderful press! Sound and general presentation is better than my liner notes-less Superunknown reissue! Buy with confidence

This 2016 U S. Rainbo pressing sounded muddy and unflattering until I turned it up. I'm not a diehard fan, but this is enjoyable at a higher volume. There is light crackle between songs....too bad, in the 80's Rainbo pressed some quality stuff.

I was really happy to get this record. It was my favorite of the Soundgarden albums. I have beautiful sounding copies of Botorfinger and Superunknown, but this record is awful sounding. It's distorted. It pops and crackles. There's no nuance to the sound. I've cleaned it several times, and it just gets no better. It's really disappointing. And I keep reading that others sound great, and I don't know if I just got a bum copy or what.

Brand new copy... or so I thought... has a large scratch on it.
Loud pops through Blow up the Outside world.

Was this release remastered for vinyl? A lot of 90s records just used the CD masters for their vinyl releases. My copy sounds great! Very quiet and flat..almost makes me think Rainbo is cleaning up their act?

Man I've got to disagree with rchecka here -- this is not only a fantastic remaster; I'd go so far as to say it is one of the single most impressive sounding records in my collection. But then again, I thought the Superunknown remaster was pretty bad and rchecka liked it so who knows...to each their own!
