Question - if this album debuted on the billboard chart May 30th, 1987, how was it not released until june 17th?

I have two first 1st edition copies. One cover is a very light green/yellow (similar to photos), one is green. Does anyone know how the cover color variation was determined for this release? -
I'm almost certain I have a US original pressing and my copy is Green, not like the yellow reissued version.
Any assistance is appreciated.
