Notes

Limited to 1000 copies.

There was a mess-up in the printing / pressing run of this album – at least one disc is known to lack a proper label (both sides are silver). This unlabeled disc was packaged stuck to a proper disc in a single jewel case. The two are identical content-wise.

Tracks 1-5 are segued / mixed.

I first listened to Xangadix - Xangadix sometime in the Spring of 1995 on the radio show Just Desserts by Mr. Goodwrench, a DJ on KFJC Los Altos Hills, CA. I didn't record that show, as I normally did, but somehow memorized the melody and how the name of the group sounded. Obvisously I wasn't sure it was this group. I thought it was Zangadix or Zangadicks. I looked for it sometimes, but never found anything. Eventually I moved away. Recall that the internet was still in it's infancy so there weren't many resources like today.

I was resigned to to the fact that it would be just another track I could not identify. And there is sat in the back of my mind for about 9 years until around 2004, when the internet had advanced far enough to be more useful for searches that played with different spelling that I learned of this group. I still wasn't sure it was them obviously, so I ordered a second hand CD to see if it indeed it was the track I'd been looking for for so many years. To my thrill, there it was. Xangadix - Xangadix. It was that track I heard on that lonley Spring night at around midnight many years before. Since I first heard it, I had graduated from my university and a graduate program, moved to a different country, still I longed to hear it one more time. Eventualy I bought two copies or three copies as a backup. Anyway, that's my story about this small obsession of mine for a good chunk of my life.

Xangadix made one important contribution to the genre of Goa Trance and it is with the first track on this release [Xangadix]. It's a beautiful track that could be played to begin a set or late in a morning set. I've listened to it 3 times in the last half hour and it has grown on me with each listen. The rich and deep sound on this release is out of category and it blows me away that the artist achieved this in 1995. The second track on this release is also very impressive in a GoAmbient sort of way. No doubt that I am adding this unique release to my collection.

Both of the Xangadix albums are quite good, classic mid-90s Fax. In fact, I think both might rank in the top 10 all-time Fax albums. Certainly they're both far better than The MS-Series from the same guys.

The second album might be a bit better, especially the awesome track Electric Eyes.

Amazing CD! Though, I have noticed on my disc there appears to be what sounds like distortion (faint) whenever there's a lot of action going on - it doesn't really detract from the experience, though I was curious if anyone else has noticed this? Almost sounds like it was recorded from vinyl (though no LP release exists)
