My 40-yr old copy sounds good after a cleaning and it is fun listening to these songs for the first time in a very long while. Randy Rhoads was a pop metal genius and prodigy.

I would love to say this is a great sounding pressing, and maybe it is. The mix of this record makes it hard to enjoy under that level of scrutiny. Vocals are too far out front at times and seem to be in a different room. At the very least, it may need some EQ. (EDIT: Side 2 seems to even out - maybe my ears just needed to adjust. “No Bone Movies” actually sounds really great. Less effect on Ozzy’s vocal, I think.)

But it’s still a pleasant recording and brings back a lot of good memories of enjoying the devil’s music.

Help! This edition is the closest I can find to what I have. I'm looking at a copy with the CX logo on a Jet label. There is only one of CX edition on Discogs that I could find and it is on the blue CBS label. Mine has the JZ-36812 catalog number on the left side of labels, but also has CXAL-536812 and CXBL-536812.

The copy i have as the same deadwax matrix on both sides: PAL-36812-1D ❀ MASTERED AT ALLEN ZENTZ, L.A., CALIF
My copy has ome scratches with some surface noise between tracks but pressing wise, sounds really good. Full Soundstage.

It is hard not to love this record, not only as Ozzy's post-Sabbath debut, but the first time a global audience was to hear Randy Rhoads(the Quiet Riot releases were hard to find). The guitar playing and compositions are stunning. I'm never a fan of Randy's buzzy MXR tone, but the playing truly transcends all of that. He could be playing a cigar box with rubber bands and it would sound as beautiful. Speaking of, his solos on "Goodbye to Romance" just make me smile.

I'm noticing the vocals have very little compression/limiting added. That is not a bad thing, just jarring to not hear smoothed over vocal compression as in the Ozz years to follow.

This 1981 pressing sounds absolutely stunning, very clear with great instrument separation and vocals stand out nicely. "Suicide Solution" is perhaps the best mixed on the record, and exceptional piece of work. Pressing is great. Recommended.

This release looks like the closes match with a little difference in the deadwax. Side one reads the same as var 2 but has a faint F all by itself. Side two is like var 2 but reads PBL-36812-1J ❀ MASTERED AT ALLEN ZENTZ, L.A., CALIF also has a faint A by itself.
