Deep, full, rich, crisp and clear with plenty of punch and bottom end, this album is truly a pleasure to spin .. I've heard so much misinformation about pressings from the 90's, this was mastered to perfection imo

Edited 10 months agoI decided to get a copy of this US original after Cayman recommended it to me and I can honestly say that it is one of my very best pressings in my collection. I compare it to my 320 Soundgarden Superunknown, my US original Alice in Chains MTV Unplugged, and my US original Masterdisk Nirvana Nevermind. As far as Layne Staley records go This Record, the original 1996 Alice in Chains Unplugged from Holland, and my original US Jar of Flies/Sap are my favorite pressings. You truly cannot go wrong with them, Layne and the soundstage on those pressings are astonishing. Lifeless Dead on this pressing is my personal favorite.

Enjoying reading the more recent reviews here. I am slowly going through my collection and rating them all SQ wise with the best ranking / folder titled “11/10”. Currently there are 21 albums/pressings there out of around 700 or so albums I own (some not entered yet). This is one of them. Music wise it has been a top 10 album for me since it was released . I bought on vinyl not long after it was released. That one was too noisy for me so I sold it last year and bought a cleaner copy. I rate the (relatively) recent represses an 8.5/10. This 11/10 OG has sizzling mids, some of the best drums you will ever hear and Layne is in your LR. It’s all there and it is insanely good.

Edited one year agoOne of the best sounding records ever. transcendent experience. worth every penny! The OG is the definitive pressing. The KPG cut is good. But this one smokes. Voice is perfect, Holographic…punchy, Oh so punchy! KPG cut is smoothed a little too much maybe. This one is slightly roudy in the best way.

One of the best pressings I ever had in my collecting history.
It does not just beat the CD version, but also all other records around.
Just amazing! -
I bought this new (shout out to the old Tower Records in Seattle's U-District) and it sounds fabulous. I did a wet clean and didn't hear a single pop or click on any of the three playable sides. The real test is the song "Wake Up" and the incredible low-end intro. It's so hard to hear that song properly on other media/formats. Sounds wonderful here.

Edited one year agoJust came into a NM copy of this(corner clipped). It sounds ridiculously good. I had read some of the hype before obtaining this original pressing, so my expectations were rather high, and it’s certainly one of the best sounding hard rock records I’ve heard. SQ is fan fucking tactic. Surface noise is extremely minimal after a mild wet clean. A+

Edited 2 years agowhat a shame they had to shrink down the artwork for the reissues, i love this original cover as is. do i love it enough to pay 300 for this original press, tho? ummm.....

Does anyone have a copy w low surface noise? The SQ (besides the surface noise) is as good as it gets for hard rock. Oh and the drums!!! And this record has plenty of low end/ballz. More than the 2013. But the surface noise is awful. I bought mine new when it came out btw.
