After careful listening to 1st issues, Mastersound 1/2 speeds, Japanese issues....this is the best analog WYWH recording. That being said, Pink Floyd was notorious for for overlaying, even utilizing some early digital to improve the sound stage. As much as I would like to say, this is the all-around best recording, the Japanese Mastersound SBM CD is more vivid and accurate (based on the scope and test devices showing S-N ratio, distortion and white noise. With a better cartridge, cables, etc. the analog signal would improve, yet, doubtful it would equal the digital recording). My friend and I have obtained Mint/NM+ copies for around $1K. Patience friends. CD for under $100. Only reason to buy the LP is being analog biased...which I am. Yet, there was no reason to keep the vinyl given the sale paid for many other recordings, the Mastersound CD plays better and maintaining vinyl is much harder than a CD, right?/!
