If you’re familiar with The Meters At Roxy’s, a well-circulated bootleg from the 80s (which has half of this show), you’re already familiar with what you get here - a fine-sounding radio broadcast, with all the sonic limitations of an FM broadcast recording present. The pressing is good, the music is fantastic - maybe not a peak Meters performance, but as others have said, A Minor alone makes this worth the grab.

The RSD price, which was $30-35, is perfectly acceptable for 2 LPs of live Meters in their prime. Don’t expect an audiophile recording, and don’t pay flipper prices. It’s an RSD “first” which means there will probably be a wide release later (granted, I’ve been burned by waiting for a general release that never came).

Great example of flippers going OVERBOARD. Stop embarrassing yourselves. Same people who steal from the blind. Dr John would not appreciate this.

If you temper your expectations re: the recording quality, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. It’s better than others are reporting. I bought this for someone who didn’t know they were getting it (nor had they asked me for it), and I probably won’t give it up. Track A1 is worth the price of ission. As another member said, I wouldn’t pay flipper prices, but depending on your means, under $50 isn’t unreasonable to own the material.

No idea what these negative reviews are on about. This thing is beautiful. The playing smokes, the vinyl is stunning, and the sound is warm and present. Is it a multitrack recording, no but much better then bootleg quality. I actually wish all live recordings sounded as full and alive as this. Very happy I bought it!

Terrible sound quality. My most wanted RSD25 selection quickly became my most disappointed RSD25 selection. Buyer beware.

It certainly sounds like a bootleg/audience recording, but as long you go in knowing the sound isn't going to be revelatory, you'll be okay. It's not distorted in any way and every instrument is clear and audible. George's bass is super warm here. The pressing is perfectly flat and quiet and the purple/yellow split with the green label is very dank. The music speaks for itself. Just fantastic! Especially Side A. I would not hesitate to purchase again.

A more than adequate sonic document of a fun and funky jam filled set, and considering the dearth of their live albums it was well worth the list price of $32. Not worth paying flipper prices though.

Pretty much a meh. I love every song on the record, but it just doesn't sound great.

Total disappointment IMO. The sound quality is subpar and I'm not really thrilled about the music and song selections of this show either. I guess I'm not a fan of this period of The Meters.

Think some of the negative reviews are a little unfounded. I’d say Sonics are closer to a 8. At least on my system. Still has plenty of dynamics, but you do need to turn it up a bit… like most bootleg or radio broadcasts.
What should also be mentioned is the band is on fire and clearly in their element. If you are a fan; this is a cool time capsule of the band at their peak.
