Compared to my Ernie first press, this is nearly identical. The only thing that looks off are the scans of the back jacket - too overexposed. The original looks more natural.
Outside of that minor change, the BSM is a wonderful addition to your collection. -
Edited 11 days agoPressing is fantastic, truly dead silent. I do not own another copy, so I will refrain from too much commentary. But my impression is of good clarity, separation and soundstage. It is bright though and lacking power, likely in part due to the recording itself, but important to note for those sensitive to it.

This is my first foray into Because Sound Matters and I have to say I'm impressed. The sound is punchy and then quiet when it needs to be. As for the artwork I think I like their style of a gatefold over Mofis single lps with puny cover art. Plus it fits in the slipcover better which Mofi obviously copied after dropping the big box from their One Step series.

Great version. Excellent bass and drums :) listening to my 94 CD and is not too bad either.. but the one step sounds awesome.

Edited one month ago#549/3,000. I bought it bc I wanted to hear for myself the one step difference. I also have a $15 copy of Dookie. They sound the same. I only have a modest set up. Shiit Mani 2 preamp, fluance RT82 player with the stock ortofon OM10. Maybe I need to upgrade my set up before one step would be worth it. Eventually I will but for those with comparable intermediate systems maybe hold off and put the money towards upgrades for now.

I grew up on this album played on a CD via a Sony boombox. It was a blast back then, but this experience is on another level. Yes, the dedicated stereo makes a huge difference, but the overall sonics of this album on AAA vinyl is just fantastic. Tons of fun! Better grab yours before they're gone forever.

echoing what everyone is saying underneath, this pressing is insane. i've always wanted a good sounding copy of dookie but, i have never been able to find it. i wore down my old copy on my first turntable and since then, i've been on a search.
anyways, everything feels . this is the most silent record i've ever bought. the gatefold feels really nice too, although i wish all of doodles in the CD booklet were present.
soundwise: yeah this things rips. it sounds so loud, aggressive, just how green day should. very polished. mike's harmonies and bass is very present, and the drums are very present too. idk how to describe it other than, you have to listen to it to understand.
i'm happy i ed on the 30th anniversary box set because man, this is what dookie should be. worth every penny. -
This is my 5th one-step pressing, I have all 3 linkin park and green day American idiot albums. I can't say enough about these and how grateful I am that they exist. They are without hesitation, my favorite albums in my collection and I have some pretty rare records.
People that complain about the price must be old heads that always complain how cheap everything was back in their day and I get it, a lot of people don't understand inflation, hopefully inflation platues for a few decades at least but considering how cheap 2 lp pressings are $50 these days, I really don't mind $100-$125 for something as high quality as these pressings to some of my fav albums. I really enjoy listening to the intricacies of these pressings and they sound so different than my other records, the only thing that's close is some of my SRC Kevin Gray cuts, and some of my VMP exclusives sound wise but even those don't match the quality of the physical media, tip on gatefolds, thick cardboard jackets, and quality of the wax itself.
It's truly and enjoyable experience from start to finish. It may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but for someone like me, who really appreciates quality (hard to find these days) and the amount of love and attention to detail put into one of my favorite hobbies, it's literally priceless. -

Edited 3 months agoHere is a review of the Dookie versions available:

The difference if volume matched to other pressings is fairly small.
