anyone else thinks this Nas - Illmatic might just be a variant of this same reissue? shal we start a merging process?

When I first purchased this and had a bookshelf stereo and an entry level Sony table, I wasn’t impressed.

Now that I have a 1970s Pioneer table, an AT-VM95ML cart, a cheap Fosi tube preamp, and a basic Klipsch home theater as my setup? Wow.

Bass is full and rich. No surface noise. No skips, crackles, or pops. It’s a tiny bit on the quieter side, but I know how to operate my volume knob. This makes me think it’s cut from the OG version.

This ain’t no urban outfitters hipster money grab pressing as some have suggested.

        Poor quality hipster repress

Ignore all attempts to defend it

They are from people used to accepting poor quality vinyl in return for their hard earned cash

These same people also accept poor quality coffee from Starbucks for $8 and brag it

We must make a stand against this and their bare foot shoes they prance around in while on a grenola fueled sugar high

        🫵Oi, hipsters, NO!

It appears that this reissue used the same plates as the original European pressings.
          Compare here: Nas - Illmatic
Sounds great to me. No sibilance distortion on my setup.

Picked one up in VG condition, but underneath the gentle clicks from the light scratches all over I hear none of the problems stated here. Sounds quite good overall. I will definitely be hunting for a VG+ or better, as I really like the groove and flow of the album.

For me it isn't bad at all, I'm actually pretty surprised how good it is.

bass warps a bit at higher volumes, and I have vocal scratching on the left channel of track A5 Halftime and both channels of B4 & B5.

Agree with others here on the inner groove distortion and pressing quality. I have to use a micro linear stylus to remove the sibilance and distortion. "Halftime" & "It Ain't Hard To Tell" sound horrible with lower-end carts.
