Edited 15 days agoMost of this disc is the original 1993 master, but "gz up" is a new remaster for this disc.
"gz up" is totally brickwalled and .5 DB louder than the rest of the album, so u gotta reach for the volume dial. & whatever source they used for that track sounds like shit.
not sure why they didn't just rip a copy of the original disc in EAC and make a new glass master from that.

Edited 6 months agoI still prefer the original pressing over this. Mainly because:
1. The skit before "G'z Up, Hoez Down" was moved to after the song, and replaced by static in between the interlude before it and the song.
2. The original tracklist is 19 songs, whereas this release is 14 (the other releases without "Gz Up, Hoez Down" also have a smaller tracklist). This is because the skits and interludes are no longer their own separate tracks, but instead part of other tracks. This means that you can't just listen to "Doggy Dogg World" or "Pump Pump" without listening to the spoken word interlude/breaks first which sucks in my opinion.
3. This CD was mastered very 'loud' and lacks the crispness of the original release.
4. Interestingly, each mix of "Gz Up, Hoez Down" is slightly different and this one is no exception.
Original: Drums in the intro start on the right. The line at 0:32 "Now as I look for the bud sack
And see where my loves at.." travels noticeably to the right then back to the middle.
'15 Years On Death Row' Version: Drums start on the left. (The left and right channels are reversed throughout the song).
The line at 0:32 "Now as I look for the bud sack
And see where my loves at.." travels to the left then back to the middle.
30th Anniversary Version: The drums start in the center.
The line at 0:32 "Now as I look for the bud sack
And see where my loves at.." travels slightly to the right then back to the middle. -
Edited one year agoSo from what I heard on Spotify of this version, they moved the Sam Sneed skit to the beginning of Pump Pump (not sure why). G'z Up Hoez Down sounds weird to me too. Louder volume than the other songs.

Edited one year agoNice to have all tracks on this release but boy, the lyrics have not aged well. Quite cringy to say the least. Can‘t listen to Ain‘t No Fun anymore, like at all.
