Meh. Sound is pretty good and full, but material is pretty average — not bad for 21st century Stones, Mick sounds good, and album is definitely better than the 1990s output, but songs are largely forgettable. This copy was probably a good deal on clearance for $11 bucks at Walmart, but it arrived pretty banged up.

Edited one year agoThe purple transparent is beautiful and plays perfectly. It is quiet with no surface noise, flat, and sounds great! I gave this a few listens for it to grow on me. Mick's vocals are better than ever, considering he is now in his 80's. As for the songs, there is enough goodness here for most Stones fans to dig into.

Maybe I got unlucky here but my copy is very noisy - cracks and pops - have given it a real good clean but not a great deal of improvement unfortunately.
For the album - it’s ok …. I don’t think it’s outstanding but does its job. Do agree with a poster here that the production is quite slick. Not a real fan of Andrew Watts production…. That’s just my opinion but respect others who like it.
A 7/10 from me. -
Probably the best record of 2023 for me. Definitely a surprise. Very listenable from start to finish. Pressing is good for me. They really pushed the groove all the way to the center of the record that is for sure. Highly recommended!

Edited one year agoOne of those albums like many that the first time around you say “ok, good effort” and then put it away and you are practically done with it. Then I listen to it again and say “this is better than I thought” and then “I really like this” and am genuinely surprised and happy about it. Forget getting Let It Bleed or Sticky Fingers or even Some Girls ever again or you are going to be disappointed. That’s crazy thinking. Holding them to that standard is a bit absurd. But, I was very happily surprised by the fourth song with Paul McCartney on bass that is a real good rocker and the last song with Mick doing his blues harmonica thing which he is excellent at and did very well with on the prior album. Love it. It is wonderful to know they can still put stuff together that makes me smile. 80 year old rockers?!?! 😁. I heard they still have a lot of stuff in the can so they might not be done. My purple vinyl is quiet and sounds very good. I generally don’t care about vinyl color but as this sound good and clean, it is neat to look at.

Edited one year ago"A return to form", hm, I don't know about that. I really wanted to like this album but it's grossly overproduced, the co-writes are basically pop songs with a hint of the classic Stones sound and the Jagger/Richards tunes are boring and repetitive, save for Sweet Sounds Of Heaven which actually almost sounds like good ole 70's Stones. They could've skipped Lady Gaga on that one though, it would've been better without her, but I guess Jagger thought it would look good to have her name on the back cover.
At this point in their career I think the Stones should stop trying to keep up with the latest musical trends and attract young new fans, which is basically what's going on here. Dissappointing, imho. -

Great album. The band still has it! And those two tracks with Charlie (RIP) are awesome! The one with McCartney is a great one too. I am very happy from this pressing - zero problems, well-packaged (came in a good inner sleeve, not plain paper one). Plays without any pops / clicks even without cleaning. I have listened to this album a couple of times since release. Would love to hear some of these songs performed live!
