Riddled with surface noise that ruins softer parts. Luckily, there are not many quiet sections. The music overpowers most of it. Great metal. Not overblown but solid playing.

Finally got my copy, it's true that it sounds more balanced. Now: if you own a previous edition, should you buy? Honestly, Gods Of The Earth is quite muddy as a record and probably this is intentional. It's raw, primitive, furious...a sharp, round mix won't fit it.
The is an advantage with this edition if you're really into dynamics and balance: instruments are compensated, and cymbals are back in place, the bass sounds wonderful and my copy has no surface noise. The truth is, if you want the album because you want to headbang, open a beer and light a J, get ANY edition. Don't break the bank just because scalpers are asking 40+ for this one, also: I wouldn't be surprised if they release it again remastered. -
Very happy with my copy of this one. I like this new mix and my record has no surface noise which might be a first for me with metallic vinyl. My record is very close to black though with the gold swirl being very light.

I may have gotten lucky in regards to little (if any) surface noise, but to my ear this version of the album sounds great. The mixing lets every track stand out without being overpowering or making anything muddy out. The actual look of the record is great as well, the gold flake effect is visually awesome, even if it is apparently leading to some copies having some surface noise. I would say this is worth getting if you can avoid getting hit with the usual RSD latecomer's tax on the more prominent releases.

Edited 2 years agoMy copy sounds like it was ripped from 128kbps MP3s. I think that's just my description of surface noise, but it's awful. It renders the record worthless.I'm very disappointed when I spend $35+ (or any amount of money really) on a record and it sounds terrible. And there's no recourse.

This shit BANGS! No surface noise, guess I got lucky. My fav Sword record so happy to finally have this on wax HIGHLY recommended!!!!!!

Is anyone having trouble with the digital ? The card takes me to a site that really doesn't look legit (mexicansummer.bandacamp.com/yum). I think there's a typo in "bandcamp".

I know this album like the back of my hand and this is without a doubt the best it’s ever sounded. The new mix separates the instruments and gets the volume levels just right. There is a decent amount of surface noise even after a vacuum cleaning. The sleeve is beautifully done however the lack of a gatefold like the original is disappointing.
-
The mastering sounds great on this, just has that damn surface noise associated with most gold colored records.
