I personally think this is the best album by them. Great songs, complex arrangements, and all played by a trio.

Edited 12 years agoGreat later effort (1981), and final studio album by this fantastic Czech progressive rock band. Personally, I would rank this release just slightly below the brilliance found on earlier albums such as "Modrý Efekt & Radim Hladík" (1975), "Svět Hledačů" (1979), and "Svitanie" (1977), of which the latter is considered to be the bands greatest achievement. "33" has all the chops and tight progressive arrangements that one has come to expect from these guys.
The title track, "Třiatřicet" is epic...with it's spacey synths, and mouth watering guitar/keyboard interplay, that again emphasizes Radim Hladik's mastery of the electric guitar...you won't be disappointed. The rest of the album follows suit, with very few vocal ages (Lešek Semelka's voice has been known to annoy some), staying true to instrumental form.
M. Efekt are a three piece here, with keyboardist Oldřich Veselý departing just after their previous LP. He eventually ed Synkopy, releasing the album Sluneční hodiny (also released in 1981).
I've featured my M. Efekt video here at Discogs. Imagery sourced from my M. Efekt '33' LP; jacket, labels, etc. See release page. Thanks...
