Edited one year agoOn my somewhat revealing system, this sounds absolutely awful. The consistency of quality between songs is wild. Some sound decent while others sound extremely digital--compressed, sibilant, crispy. Just nasty. Track position/proximity to runouts not relevant. Hungry Like The Wolf made me want to drive a nail into my ears.

Edited one year agoAfter a long search for the definitive pressing of this album, I can assure you this is ‘the one’. Super-warm / analogue-sounding remaster, clean and detailed - Rio as you’ve never heard it. The textured cover looks fantastic, though a gatefold edition would have been the icing on the cake. To date, this is the best I’ve ever heard. Five ✨

YES. i agree with ramzy. this sounds killer to my system too. even if is not cut from the original master tapes, this is a digital remaster, the quality is terrific; powerful and tremendous bass, natural voices and a vinyl more than silent: surface noise is near ZERO. the packaging is not the best i've ever seen, but i prefer a vinyl full of quality with a not wonderful package (but this not mean is bad, colour are perfect) than a lovely package for a rubbish vinyl. so this reissue it's an Amazing listening experience.
this is EMI we are talking about friends! -
I've just dug this out again and it sounds absolutely beautiful. The pressing is top-notch. Also worth pointing out how loving the attention to detail is re. the packaging, even down to the texturing of the outer sleeve and the exact reproduction of the original inner. If you want a reissue done properly, leave it to the label who released the album in the first place, apparently.
