Edited 4 years agoWhile I believe it’s unfair to compare artists, I found my way to this new single by Tracy Bryant because his work traveled down the same heady slow-paced melodic path as Ultimate Painting, where here Bryant’s songs simply unfold in slow motion, lusciously, hauntingly, moved forward by vocals that are nearly probing in their delivery, especially when considering “House of Mirrors.”
Not withstanding, “Between Us,” the opening tracking of this set, is a very popish affair, one that moves with a delightful swagger, laced with a flowing nuance, bringing to mind “Lonesome Cowboy Bill” by the Velvet Underground, where this short number rolls with a steady probing upbeat pace that’s impossible to ignore.
