Notes
Catalog number on spine: BFC 40238
Catalog number on labels: C 40238
There is another US release with the catalog number "FC 40238" printed on the spine and a slightly different barcode.
Per Tim Neely of Goldmine:
"In the 1980s, there also were albums with three letters, usually "BFC"; these are early pressings of certain LPs that were released at a lower list price. If they became popular, they were re-released without the "B" (as "FC") with a revised bar code (usually adding an "02" to the number on the back) and a higher price."
On some copies of this version, a sticker was affixed over the barcode and the spine with the "FC 40238" catalog number and the alternate barcode found on the alternate US release (see image).
Copies exist with barcode on back cover stamped in gold with a big "D" and boxed text: "FOR PROMOTION ONLY / Ownership Reserved By CBS / Sale is Unlawful". (See image)

i really couldn't believe my eyes when i saw a ~EX copy of this for 40 bucks at my local record store, i picked it up immediately and i can say with confidence it smoked my Walmart clear copy in every way, even down to the jacket quality. yes there is some silibance and inner groove distortion on the last ~3 tracks on the record despite that, its great. i just cant believe i found it in such good condition at such a low price.

I'm always amazed when artists with albums like these let them go out of print on vinyl. The price is driven up on used copies and the artist makes no money from them. Now, as a partial review, there are sibilance issues with this pressing. I've tried it on different turntables, and it even has it on my Pro-Ject TT with my Ortofon 2M bronze, so I know it's not my setup. My rig plays most things including some tough sibilance Beatles ones just fine. Not sure if it was corrected on other pressings or not.

Best LP of 1986. Rick Rubin took Hip-Hop to the next level, production-wise, and drove the entire state of Florida bonkers with the 808.
