Edited one year agoWhen i first listened to this album, "Marcella's Dream" directly caught my attention with the sphereful melody and arrangements. "Snowflake" is another composition which i enjoy for the mellow intro/outro, rhythmic flow and solos. The work-in-progess cover design is interesting. A creative desk with dia frames of the group as silhouettes and a typographic grid to match with.

This is quite powerful album. From the beginning to the end you will hear a lot of tight funky grooves with addition of jazzy improvisations resulting in quite pure and very enjoyable jazz-funk. "Fairy Tales" is very nice opening track and well defines the sound you will have constantly present on this album. Another outstanding tracks are "Bayou Bottoms" with very strong emphasis on the groove element and, of course, "Covert Action" with nice slow funk melodic developments. Yet each track is enjoyable on its own. Very recommendable as nice piece of late 70s jazz-funk.

can't believe this record is selling for $ 1.00.
not sure why the Crusaders are as underrated as they are. I got at least 10 records by them and they are very very very good. i been listening to them for over 30years and they still sound fresh and are/is good music for almost any occasion.... -

One of the most underrated late 1970s jazz funk albums, recorded by this phenomenal and forever underrated group. The highlight here is the totally MASSIVE track "Covert Action", one of the deepest funky songs you will ever hear.with deep, snappy drumming by Stix Hooper and some of the best saxophone riffing by Wilton Felder. Just a great, great song. The rest of the album is groovy too, but "Covert Action" is the standout for sure!
