VOLUNTEERS is probably my favorite Jefferson Airplane album, and BARK pales in comparison, but it has grown on me a bit over the years. It's not a bad record, but it does feel fractured at times. Highlights include "Feel So Good", "Third Week In The Chelsea", "Law Man" and "Pretty As You Feel". This is one of the better sounding Dynaflex pressings I've heard, the production can be dense at times, but the soundstage remains fairly clear and full-boded. My copy plays nice and clean with barely any surface noise.

The debut JA release on their own label: Grunt Records on which JA change (loose?) direction w/ a casual frayed live-in-the-studio approach & a shift away from the counter-culture sentiments. Has some very good moments. Not too bad for a band coming apart at the seams after the departure of Marty Balin and Spencer Dryden. Just not a fan of the violin though:(.
A decent underrated album.
