Genuinely confused with these comments my copy plays beautifully without skips or noise maybe between songs i noticed a little bit but it was never during the song that made it apparent sounds really full and dynamic too plus the box is beautiful as a big fan of this album I’m glad to have this version don’t understand the hysteria here -
I thought I was lucky to find a sealed copy of this yesterday in a record store in Montreal, but man was I so wrong. Both of the discs on my copy look like they came out of a wood factory - absolutely loaded in surface scuffs and discoloration spots, and it plays noisy as shit. Wet cleaned them before playing, and nothing changed with visual appearance or playback. An incredible shame considering the mastering on this version sounds pretty good. -
Box and contents are surprisingly bad quality, great album and luckily not a lot of issues with the pressing itself. -
Even after a deep cleaning, my version still has a ton of pops during Me And Your Mama. With that said, the rest of the pressing is pretty good. The live version of The Night Me And Your Mama Met makes this edition worth purchasing.

For anyone purchasing this in 2022 and beyond, the VR headset still works as a headset with smaller phones, but the VR experience has been removed from app stores. You can find recordings on YouTube, but you aren’t able to experience it yourself. -
I wonder if there's a lot of variability on the pressings, because what I have sounds fantastic, great range, no distortions, no noise. Quiet sections are fantastic, loud sections could maybe be a bit louder in my opinion, but I really do think this is a fantastic pressing, and the mastering seems very good (but I am a mere pleb so take that with a grain of salt). -
Bad pressing, lots of pops and crackles. This box is not cheap so I'm disappointed with the quality. The mastering is not remarkable for a 45rpm edition. But it is a nice album to have in my collection. Like the packaging and accessories. -
Give a listen to California on 33 1/3. It's actually pretty dope. Sounds like you're in a dusty nightbar and Hendrix is doing an ambient set... I'm sober, I swear. -
Edited one year agoWOW this packaging is way overdone, the box is as thick as a 5lp box set, for a VR headset that became obsolete in less than 5 years. Come the hell on. This sounds great but is pretty noisy, might just need to give it a wet clean.
EDIT: I got this cleaned on a record cleaning machine and its still really noisy. Oh well, great dynamics outside of that. Great album. -
Just for some balance of the reviews here, have owned from new and the records were immaculate and never had any issues with skips or whatever. Fantastic pressing and this box set is worth the closing live version of 'The Night...' alone.
