Rush – Archives

My copy plays what seems to be a compilation by Bachman-Turner-Overdrive on the first record even it is labeled correctly. Anyone else has one like this?

I've seen used copies of this "black variant" in Toronto for as much as $100 (CAD)!

For me, this is kind of pointless to have because I already own all over these albums in great shape. I will say, if you want a bargain, you could most likely get this in great shape for much less than finding all three of them separately.

I previously had a copy of Archives with the Howie Weinberg mastering and thought it did sound really good. I just picked up the Gilbert Kong and can definitively say that it hits harder, more aggressive and stronger. The first album and Fly By Night sound amazing here!! Highly recommended and well worth the investment. These are my definitive versions.

excellent quality pressing on all 3 records. havent checked my personal copies of "Rush" or "Caress Of Steel", but the stampers for "Fly By Night" have the original catalog/matrix numbers in parenthesis, and then have the SRM-9200 C/D etchings added so at least that record is derived from the original US cut/mastering, and it sounds fantastic!! excellent pressing all around, with all 3 discs having almost zero surface noise and they play flat and well centered. fantastic sounding cuts, as well. nice added bonus having the different, non-starman printed logo on the labels. cant go wrong with this set!!

my copy has all the same runout's for disc 2 and 3... reason i didn't say disc one.. mine came with two copies of the same variant of "fly by night". Also a gold promo stamp on back/no"704". any rush heads out there know of any other pressing that has the gold stamp?

I’m shocked how good these sound. I believe these were pressed using the original plates for the records, as Side A of Fly by Night has the chimes loop locked in the runout groove, which only appeared on the original vinyl pressings of the album. Grab this if you can!

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I just checked every Canadian grey albums. I swear there is a label variant of this. More like a typographical error.

It would always make me laugh, because back then. I couldn't imagine an 11 LP set let alone one that has 111 records in it.

Since there's no photos of it. Does anyone have it?

I have this version for 5 sides, but side F (Caress of Steel Side 2) does not have Masterdisk GK. Rather it has a tiny JPS etched. Looks to be the plates from one of the 1976 reissues.
