Psy (7) – Gangnam Style

The actual mastering is amazing! Great work guys but the actual record sucks. Mine came with a big spot of what I can only assume to be dirt and a bunch of scratches.

This was mastered PERFECTLY but unfortunately the record itself is very cheap and came full of scratches on both of my copies so it’s a bit disappointing to see that they didn’t put as much care into the pressing as they did the mastering

Listen. I got this for the same reason you all did, and probably the reason you're on this page. I saw a cheap 7" containing Gangnam Style and couldn't stop laughing. Not to say the song doesn't rock, but this was certainly a meme purchase.

So imagine my surprise at the unironically amazing pressing this song got. Surprisingly light on the bass, giving incredible clarity to the synth leads and drum loops. The cheesy synth leads sparkle and cut in a way I've never heard on the YouTube video, or even on digital s. The drum machines are very punchy (as punchy as prod. drums can be), and the vocals shine. The bass certainly booms a fitting amount, but it doesn't bury the rest of the instruments. Overall very crisp and well balanced!

Apparently this is the first official vinyl pressing, and I imagine it beats all those bootleg picture discs to death. Bravo, republic rex!!

Anyone can talk about this quality release ?

Hahahahaha what is this? The funny thing is the straight instrumental version is kind of a banger... shoulda pressed that on vinyl instead (extended mix or some kind)

Sound quality on the original track is OK, but the remixes are just terrible. Check it out on a spectrum analyzer... Yes, this is low-bitrate MP3 pressed on vinyl! Wouldn't surprise me if it was ripped straight from Youtube.

I don't share the comments expressed about this being awful. There is often too much "seriousness" and snobbery about music, with the self-appointed "cognoscenti" telling everyone what is and what isn't music and what we should and should not be listening to. The same elitism goes on in fashion, movies, book publishing, etc etc.

This is just plain old good fun, for just a few minutes. Its not supposed to be life-changing, cerebral, invoke social-change, or mean something.

If some people don't like it, they don't have to listen to it and they don't have to make pointless comments (what is that for?).
To those people, please you do have an off button on your music playing device.
