Kiss – Animalize

LP was so totally stuck / static in the innersleeve that it ripped when I tried to get the vinyl out.... Poster is way bigger than expected but a completely different image than initially d. The UK shop still shows the original design where the USA shop has replaced it with the design that's actually on the poster.....

Same mix as 2014 release. Inner sleeve is semigloss paper, resulting in static that made it a struggle to get the LP out of the sleeve. Some clicks and surface noise, even after a deep clean.

Not a bad sounding piece of vinyl. Mix is crisp and clear. Good low end. I'm happy with it.

On my copy, right under the second leg of the K and the I, a long strip of black text runs underneath the KISS logo and the animal print. Is that on every copy? It doesn’t go over the KISS logo so that’s what originally led me to believe that.

How is this release distinct from https://discogs.mejorespelis.org/release/3192139-Kiss-Animalize? And why is the label listed as Mercury rather than Casablanca?

I was astonished to read that unnumbered 12" picture discs of Kiss (Netherlands only / 13 different 12" Picture Discs) are counterfeits and the numbered ones are the real stuff. To my knowledge this is a fairytale.
Some time ago I visited the widow of the owner of the company who manufactured the picture discs for Phonogram. She showed us a small stock of some leftovers and some items were numbered and others were not. The only logical conclusion for me is that the unnumbered ones can not be counterfeits, since they were manufactured in the same run and at the same moment in the same factory as the numbered ones. Maybe the unnumbered ones are even more rare than the numbered ones(?), because that run was up to 1500. The unnumbered ones were probably left-overs. The machine kept going and did not stop right after 1500 (or before # 0001) , so probably less unnumbered ones.
