Ramones – Rocket To Russia

My copy has the matrix etching “STERLING SR -1- 6042 - LW1” which apparently stands for Los Angeles Warner 1 or 1st Pressing.

My OG is trashed, this was my favorite album when it came out when I was 12, I still have the vinyl in a taped up inner sleeve but no cover. Super clean Super Saver '80s Specialty pressing which sounds very fine as well... not catching on this press extra distortion/sibilance like some reviews here. Heavier vinyl then the original Sires. Always thought this was the best produced of the iconic first four Ramones albums; for me, the difference between this pressing and the '80s Specialty pressing amount to cork sniffing LOL, don't think you could go wrong with either version. As a plus, this one's still easily available new and sealed. All the vinyl versions of the 2016-2017 remasters beat the corresponding CDs handily.

IDK What is up with my copy but Cretin Hop (and a few other tracks) sounds low quality. Back to back with Rockaway Beach, the difference in sound quality is jarring. Can’t find anyone else talking about this

Dead flat with no surface noise.
High quality mastering and pressing.

Mine had few skips on b side but after cleaning with disco-antistat washer those skips disappeared. Sounds great.

This is a great pressing and EQ, wonderful soundstage and separation even though you’re enveloped by this ocean of raw sound.

Very thin matte stock cover. No insert with mine. What is interesting the Side B vinyl ends with "Surfin Bird"... which leaves a whopping great amount of empty grooves. There may have been some censorship because of the lyrics of "why is it always this way", which is weird when you think of the lyrics of the rest of the album. The logo is a darker pink than US pressing.

This version is a revelation--I'm hearing subtle keyboard pads buried in the mix that I've never noticed before. And this mastering really brings out the drums--Tommy sounds more like Marky now, really powerful.
