Notes
Drive Blind is from the original demo. The other tracks were new recordings when the band were given £1000 from One Big Guitar, hiding the fact that recordings were financed by a major label. They had got as far as preparing the artwork when the band decided to release it on Creation, after the band were approached by Alan McGee. Callomon acquiesced to this.

This EP (CRE072T) was released on the same day as The Sundays album, 'Reading, Writing and Arithmetic'. I know because I worked for a Chain With No Name shop and, on the Friday night before release, we went out on the town putting up posters and taking flyers to the pubs etc as this was our first time being involved with a CWNN campaign. Our shop normally opened at 10am but people were queueing before 8.30am. However, in fairness to our regular customers, we did not open until 10am when there were more than 150 people in the queue. We sold out of both releases by mid afternoon and the shop was mentioned at the CWNN campaign review, for all the extra work we put in beforehand and the number of sales we made. Good days and great memories for those involved. Incidentally, the band etc (Ride), used to drop by our shop during their recording sessions for the first EP. -

So, according to the notes on this release, Ride used one track from a demo recording and recorded 3 new tracks in the studio, all for £1000 in 1989? I'm guessing they drank 900 quid of that money on the way to the studio, or they were royally ripped off, given the production quality of this e.p.!
Still love it, mind! -

Does anyone know the story behind this release? It looks like a mix of a couple of other releases. I picked it up from a guy who used to promote bands in Brighton and was at a Ride show asking the "roadies" at the merch table for something that they had that was different.
