The Prestige Mono Series

Profile:

Reissue series of 25 albums from the legendary Cohearent Audio.

All of the LP's are pressed at Gary Salstrom. In addition, the LP's feature deep groove labels and are pressed with a flat-edge, no groove-guard flat profile to replicate the original Prestige pressings. The LP jackets are original tip-on facsimiles with the original thick cardboard stock.

The Hybrid SACD discs come packaged in mini old style gatefold jackets which feature printed wraps mounted to chipboard shells, also known as "mini LP" jackets.

These 25 mono titles are sold both individually and as a complete series to those who subscribe. The first 1,000 copies are individually numbered, while the first 250 numbered copies are only available to series subscribers. All other copies are unnumbered.

In February 2022 on the Acoustic Sounds YouTube channel Chad announced that the licensing contract had been renewed after 7 years and repressing had commenced. Some titles had spare jackets, with the quantity varying between them. These were being used first with many going to backorders. Additional jackets were being sourced. Gradually the titles were being repressed, almost all at 180g rather than 200g. Regular back in stock announcements were made on the Acoustic Sounds Newsletter as each title became available.

A version is usually identifiable by differences in ℗ & © on the back cover and/or labels.

This mono series is complemented by The Prestige Stereo Series.

***Posting this note for those interested.
These 2021 & 2022 180gram represses all sound lovely and are likely on par if not the same as the 2012-2017 ones but it's important to note that the THICKNESS of the cardboard has DECREASED noticeably. One can easily bend and accidentally crease these ones whereas the originals were made from thicker cardboard and seemingly indestructible. I think it's an important factor to when choosing to buy these newer round of represses as you are technically getting less for the same asking price. It's also not something that the company has made clear or has any plans to do so as the costs of business (esp cardboard) has risen over past few years. In some ways you can't blame them for trying to offer a quality product when these costs have continued to rise.
Hope this helps those thinking of buying any 180gram pressings from this company.
*This cover issue may also affect 200gram presses but I've not noticed that from the few I've seen thus far.
