Metro Select

UK budget label that releases various kinds of 2 disc compilations. All their releases are legit and licenced. Sound quality is usually good and mastering is ok. Although there are few gems in their catalog, I find most of their releases somewhat lackluster. IMHO the biggest downfall is their attempt to save on licencing fees. Typically this shows in track choises. There's usually plenty of rather indifferent live performances or cheaply licenced bland and generic cuts from some never heard artists on Metro Select's compilations. There's rarely enough strong material for two CDs. However there's an exception to every rule. IMHO Metro Select's Funkadelic, Bobby Womack and Éthiopiques sets are pretty great compilations.
