It's concerning this master release. From Record Collector it was released in August

Years ago I found this pdf, via www.worldradiohistory.com

    https://www.worldradiohistory.com/hd2/IDX-UK/Music/Archive-Music-Week-IDX/IDX/1984/Music-Week-1984-08-25-IDX-44.pdf#search=%22dance%20called%20america%20runrig%22

In the article it states release this week. As the article i dated 25th August 1984. Can we use 24th August as the release date for the 7" and 12" (retail release)

    Bump for opinion

It could be Aug 31th too. I'd say it woud be safer to keep August 1984 only.

I don’t agree, because it was printed on a Saturday the 25th. So if it was for the 31st, it would saynext week, correct? I believe singles were always released on a Friday. If this is the case, and it stated it was released this week, the release date would have to be the 24th August

IMO "this week" means "the forthcoming week". Otherwise it would have said "... was released this week" instead of "... is released".

I'm sure singles in the UK were released on a Monday in 1984. going to record shops on that day to buy the latest releases

CELTIC BAND Runrig have signed to Simple Records and
their first single. Dance Called America, is released this week (see)
In 7 and 12-inch. The sixpiece band play "danceable rock
music heavily tinged with Celtic influences from their native
Isle of Skye," says Simple's Shirlie Stone.
Runrig have issued three albums on their own garage
label, and a single Loch Lomond, generated airplay.

This article was dated 25 August.

If that’s the case then single must had been released 20th August

As there is no source stating the exact release date it is better to leave it at month+year.

It is IMO more likely that the magazine was talking about upcomming releases (as labels would like people to buy the release on release day/week) then releases from the past week. But that is of course just speculation as I don’t know how music press in UK worked. In my experience (swedish perspective) releases was mostly reviewed/written about before release date to promote a upcomming release.

Just in this tread with 9 posts 3 different release dates have been suggested. That in it self is to me too much speculation to decide on a spesific date. It shows any more exact date then month would (at this point) be pure speculation.

True but as it’s printed 25th August it be released that week no?
