The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was founded on March 28, 1842, by Otto Nicolai (Carl Otto Ehrenfried Nicolai), the German composer.

Regarded as one of the world's leading orchestras, its are recruited from Orchester Der Wiener Staatsoper.
