Dick Jones was the West Coast recording supervisor and an A & R man for Columbia Records between November, 1947-April, 1948. He left Columbia for Capitol records during the latter stages of the Petrillo recording ban (musicians' union strike between July 31,1942-November 11,1944 and again December 31,1947-December 14,1948).

Jones helped expand the A & R wing of Capitol in the early 1950s. He produced albums in the popular catalog, but eventually focused on
classical releases.
