American jazz banjoist, guitarist and singer, born January 11, 1890 in New Orleans, Louisiana, died July 2, 1949 in Los Angeles, California.
Scott left New Orleans in 1913 and played on the southern vaudeville circuit, then in 1915 went to New York. During the 1920s he played intermittently in Chicago with Mutt Carey in the early 1930s and led own trio several years. Again a member of Ory's band 1944-1948.
He also played withFreddie Keppard, Bob Young, and Will Marion Cook.
