James is an indie / alternative rock group from the UK.

James was formed in Manchester in 1982 by founding "Seven". The group continued to find success with the 1993 album "Laid", its simultaneously-recorded nocturnal sister, 1994's "Wah Wah", and 1997's "Whiplash" (released in 1997 just after the UK's mid-90s Britpop explosion.) The band released two additional albums before initially splitting up in 2001. James reunited in 2007 and remains active as of 2024.
